OUR HISTORY 

​1977 marked the year of the first meeting of the New York Committee.  The initial mission was to inspire, promote, and assist with appropriate civic plantings, and advise in the planning of green areas in New York City — the first project being Central Park’s Conservatory Garden.  Today it remains true to its mission, and over the past four decades continues to support significant projects in the five boroughs of New York City.

2025 PROJECT
​Brooklyn's Prospect Park

The New York Committee is partnering with the Millbrook Garden Club to help restore a section of Brooklyn's Prospect Park that suffered fire damage in November of 2024. The project received a GCA 2025 Restoration Initiative Grant and a donation from the New York Committee.

Riverkeeper

The New York Committee is a proud supporter of Riverkeeper, the organization that protects and restores the Hudson River from source to sea and safeguards drinking water supplies, through advocacy rooted in community partnerships, science and law.

NY Committee Visits the Philadelphia Flower Show  |  March 2025

​On March 3, 2025, a small group of New York Committee members met up at the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. The annual botanical exhibition from the Pennsylvania Horticutural Society (PHS) was an extravaganza of beauty and creativity.
